Srinagar, Feb 11 (KNO): Wular Lake, situated between Sopore and Bandipora in north Kashmir, plays a vital role in meeting the valley’s fish demand. According to officials, the lake provides nearly 60% of the fish consumed in the region and supports over 12,000 registered fishermen.. Assistant Director of Fisheries, Showkat Ahmad Bhat, told Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that fishing in the lake remains steady despite challenges. However, recent natural disasters have caused a decline in water levels.. Despite this setback, the fishing community has not been severely affected. Bhat reassured that Wular Lake continues to be the primary fish source for Kashmir.
