Bihar Labourer Drowns in Jhelum River While Working in Pampore
A 45-year-old labourer from Bihar drowned in the Jhelum River at Patalbagh, Pampore, while working at a sand extraction site. The body was recovered by police and shifted to SDH Pampore. Authorities have initiated an investigation into the incident.

Srinagar, Apr 14: A non-local labourer lost his life after accidentally drowning in the Jhelum River at Patalbagh in Pampore, located in south Kashmir's Pulwama district, on Monday.
Reports identified the deceased as 45-year-old Nami Sahani, son of Sarjo Sahani, a resident of Bihar. He was engaged in sand extraction work along the riverbank when the incident occurred.
Following the mishap, a police team led by the Station House Officer (SHO) Pampore rushed to the site and immediately launched a rescue operation.
Officials confirmed that Sahani’s body was recovered from the river and later shifted to Sub District Hospital (SDH) Pampore for medico-legal formalities.
The police have taken note of the incident and have begun an investigation to determine the exact cause of the drowning.
