Srinagar Police Cracks Down on Overpricing, Arrests Chicken Seller in Nowhatta

Srinagar, Feb 1(SNO):Srinagar Police have arrested a chicken seller in Nowhatta Chowk for allegedly overcharging customers and using inaccurate weighing machines to deceive them.

The action was taken after police received a written complaint regarding the malpractice. Upon verification, the allegations were found to be true. Subsequently, an FIR (No. 06/2025) was registered under relevant sections of law at Police Station Nowhatta.

According to the News Agency—Srinagar News Observer (SNO) The accused, identified as Aijaz Ahmad Hakeem, son of Gh. Ahmad Hakeem, a resident of Nowhatta, has been taken into custody. Police have also seized all weighing machines in his possession.

Authorities have assured that strict action will be taken against any violations of consumer rights. Further investigation into the case is ongoing.—(SNO)
