Srinagar Police Busts Major Counterfeit Gold Scam, Arrests Fraudulent Goldsmith in Bijbehara
Srinagar police have busted a major counterfeit gold scam and arrested a fraudulent goldsmith in Bijbehara area of Anantnag district. The accused goldsmith, identified as Bilal Ahmad Dar, was arrested after a complaint was lodged by a customer who had purchased gold ornaments from him. During the investigation, it was found that the accused was selling counterfeit gold ornaments to unsuspecting customers. The ornaments were made of copper and other metals, but were being sold as gold. The police have seized a large quantity of counterfeit gold ornaments, weighing several kilograms, from the accused's possession. The accused has been booked under relevant sections of the law and is being further investigated. The police have appealed to the public to be cautious while purchasing gold ornaments and to verify the authenticity of the gold before making a purchase.
