Qazigund residents demand conversion of old PHC into Maternity and Child Care Hospital
Residents of Qazigund demand conversion of old PHC into a Maternity and Child Care Hospital, citing lack of healthcare facilities and need for better infrastructure.

Qazigund,Feb 2 (VOI): Residents of Qazigund and it's adjoining areas demand the old PHC hospital building in the main town Qazigund to be made functional into a full-fledged maternity hospital, so that people may get relief and more importantly they shall not be subjected to shifting their patients elsewhere.
Locals said that despite its strategic location and significant population, Qazigund lacks a maternity hospital, forcing residents to travel to Anantnag or other distant districts for treatment. This not only causes delays during critical emergencies but also increases risks for both mothers and newborns.
“The people from various areas like
Qazigund, Kund, Brinal Lammer, Devsar, Banihal, Dooru, and several other areas by establishing a special maternity and child care hospital at Qazigund will certainly turn out to be a relief for the people,” a local said.
The residents are hopeful that the government will take swift action to fulfill this critical demand, ensuring better healthcare infrastructure and a healthier future for the Qazigund belt.
Meanwhile, MLA of Anantnag West Abdul Majeed Larmi told that the demand has already been taken up with the Health Minister and the Secretary Health, adding he has proposed shifting the PHC entirely to the Emergency Hospital while retaining the gynecology section at the old PHC building, which he believes will better serve patients.—(VOI)
