Four Medical Stores Suspended in Bijbehara Over Expired Drugs, Record Lapses
Four medical stores in Bijbehara, including Abdullah Medical Store, were suspended by authorities for unethical practices such as dispensing expired injectable medicines and failing to maintain proper computerized records. A surprise inspection led by Drug Control Officers uncovered multiple violations, prompting immediate action and ongoing investigation.

Bijbehara, April 11: Authorities on Friday suspended the operation of Abdullah Medical Store, located opposite Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Bijbehara, for violating license conditions and allegedly dispensing expired injectable medicine to a patient.
An official told news agency Kashmir Dot Com that acting on a complaint regarding the sale of expired injectable medicine, a joint team of Drug Control Officers from District Anantnag and police personnel from Police Station Bijbehara conducted a surprise inspection at the store.
During the raid, the team examined CCTV footage and other records, establishing that the licensee had violated prescription norms and several licensing conditions, he said.
The store was found to have dispensed medicines — including those prone to abuse — in contravention of norms. Authorities have demanded relevant records from the licensee for further legal action.
Consequently, the medical store’s operations were suspended on the spot pending the completion of the investigation.
Over a dozen samples of various drug categories were lifted for testing and quality analysis.
