Doctors Suspended, Private Practice Banned in Jammu & Kashmir Over Hospital Incident
The Jammu and Kashmir Health Department has suspended two doctors, Dr. Anjum Nazir and Dr. Tariq Ahmad Dar, and banned them from private practice over an incident at Hakeem Sonuallah Hospital in Sopore. The hospital's operation theater has also been sealed pending an investigation.

Srinagar, Feb 6 :The Jammu and Kashmir Health and Medical Education Department has suspended two doctors and banned them from private practice following an incident at Hakeem Sonuallah Hospital, Sopore, on February 3, 2025.
According to the News Agency—Srinagar News Observer (SNO) According to Government Order No. 115–JK (HME) of 2025, issued on February 6, the suspension is immediate and will remain in effect until an ongoing inquiry is completed. The doctors named in the order are Dr. Anjum Nazir, Consultant Gynaecologist at SDH Sopore, and Dr. Tariq Ahmad Dar, Medical Officer (Diploma in Anesthesia) at DH Bandipora.
The government has also strictly prohibited the two doctors from engaging in any form of private medical practice across Jammu and Kashmir. In addition to these suspensions, the operation theater of Hakeem Sonuallah Hospital, Sopore, has been sealed until further notice. This action is intended to ensure a fair and transparent investigation while upholding the integrity of the healthcare system.
The order was issued by Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed Shah, IAS, Secretary to the Government, and has been circulated to relevant authorities, including the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. This decision underscores the administration’s commitment to maintaining accountability and ensuring the delivery of quality healthcare services.
